Hillview, Naps in Intercol semis
The two strongest teams in domestic schools cricket, Hillview and Naparima Colleges both recorded easy victories, as matches in the PowerGen Secondary Schools' Cricket League Intercol quarterfinals were played at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy on Wednesday.
In the first game, Hillview battled Shiva Boys and walked away with a nine-wicket triumph to book a place in the semi-finals of the tournament. On Saturday at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy they will come up against Presentation College, Chaguanas.
Batting first, Shiva Boys totalled 116/9 in their 20 overs with Tareeq Abdool scoring 27 and Rohan Singh contributing 22. Navin Bidaisee had excellent figures of four wickets for nine runs his overs. In reply, the Premiership winners eased to117/1 in 13.3 overs as Sachin Seecharan slammed 64 not out off 45 deliveries and Navin Bidaisee completing a fine all-round performance by chipping in with an unbeaten 30.
In the second match of the double header, Naparima College took on North Championship winners, Vishnu Boys Hindu College. Batting first Vishnu Boys totalled 121/7 in 20 overs as Sarvesh Dindial top scored with 25 and Sachin Dookie made 22. NAPS had seven bowlers with one wicket apiece. In reply, the Premiership runners-up had minimum fuss in achieving their target with Cephas Cooper in imperious form, as he was unbeaten on 73 from just 51 deliveries. Justyn Gangoo made 40 in the run chase. Adrian Ramlagan had figures of 2-17 from his 4 overs.
Naparima College won by eight wickets and advance to the semifinals of the competition, where they meet the winners of the Fatima College versus Benedicts clash also on Saturday at the Lara Academy.
While, the action was taking place at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy, Presentation College was competing against Barrackpore West at Lewis Street in San Fernando. Presentation got to 136/8 in their 20 overs with D. Gopaul getting 37 and J Sutherland 17. S Cyrus was the best of the Barrackpore bowlers with three wickets for 18 runs. Barrackpore in reply could reach only 99 all out, with S. Mohammed the only man up for the battle with a quick 25. Jaden Seales took three wickets for 14 runs, while D Gopaul took three wickets for six runs.

At Lewis Street: Presentation Chaguanas 136/8 (20) (D. Gopaul 37, J Sutherland 17, S Cyrus 3/18) vs Barrackpore 99 all out ( S. Mohammed 25, Jaden Seales 3/14, D Gopaul 3/6) - Presentation College won by 37 runs.
