BASE was presented with financial assistance, in the form of a cheque for $70,000, to West Indies cricketer Samuel Badree, founder of the academy.

Samuel Badree expressed his gratitude for TECU’s continued support saying: “TECU’s sponsorship has made BASE accessible and affordable to all children regardless of their socio-economic standing.”

BASE, which is situated in Penal, provides an opportunity for children in the community between the ages five to 15 years, to improve their teamwork, sportsmanship, communication and social skills.

Since 2016, TECU has partnered with BASE in assisting some 110 young cricketers, learn and benefit from the instructions and guidance of Samuel Badree and other cricketing stalwarts concerning the intricacies of the game.

TECU’s president Ronald F Jones was on hand for the event, “TECU is extremely proud to be associated with BASE and facilitate the development of the youngsters who have the ability, in years to come, to play on the national team or with the West Indies.”
