No excuse for economic inertia
Recent polls indicate a decline or draw down on Governments popularity, but ministers question the validity of the polls and some just take a note, clearly shooting the messenger and ignoring the message.
Political analyst Dr Winford James very politely gave the Government a five out of 10 grade for their performance (and he was generous in so doing) while Dr Selwyn Ryan is still sitting on the fence, as we watch this slow archaic march to recovery. We need to hasten our steps before we fall too far behind.
The Chinese are already pushing ahead into the 21st century. Their Silk Road, One Belt drive for further economic growth is an example of progressive thinking. While we may be tempted to discuss economies of scale, there is still no excuse, of which we are versed at, for economic inertia compounded by stagnant, regressive approaches to challenges and corruption.
The belief that no one can reduce crime, no one can ensure professional health care (unlike Cuba) for all, no one can curb corruption, no one can diversify or stimulate the economy, no one can unite this country, to say the least, is a stain on our capabilities.
So to those who believe that keeping our head above water is acceptable, it is time to think of the future. To just eat a food is not good enough.
But one suspects that with a budget based on applied Colmnomics looming we can only expect a September of discontent.
