Withdraw that oppressive Rule 5-1

It is with great alarm and dismay that we are witnessing the creeping dictatorship that is being attempted by Pan Trinbago on its membership. Mr Len “Boogsie” Sharpe is quite correct to stand up against this type of oppression from the new president of Pan Trinbago.

All panmen/women should rally around Mr Sharpe’s Phase II and all other bands who have selected “Do Something for Pan” as their selection for Panorama 2011, and demand that the oppressive Rule 5-1 be withdrawn with immediate effect, and just as they are demanding an apology from the Minister of Arts and Multiculturalism, Mr Winston “Gypsy” Peters for his statement that “Panorama killing pan” one should be issued to the membership for this rule. Nowhere in the history of the Panorama competition that such a clause has ever been part of the rules governing the competition.

Instead of trying to stifle Mr Sharpe genius and his attempt to bring good governance and professionalism to the organisation, Pan Trinbago should be studying the lyrics of the song to ascertain if the information in the song is true and if it is, efforts should be made to ensure that it does not happen in the future and that prudent financial management of the organisation’s finances/assets be their watchwords.

Word on the ground is that there is a “clique” running Pan Trinbago and that all members of the Executive are not invited/informed to most of the meetings where major decisions are made, as these decisions are made by those members who are employees of Pan Trinbago and others from the “clique.” (A check with some members of Pan Trinbago’s Executive revealed that they were not aware of clause 5-1, and only knew about it when Phase II  Manager, Mr Skerrette spoke about it on television).

If this rule is allowed to stand, what other forms of oppression would be brought to bear on the membership? History has shown that most “dictators” started off as really “nice’ people and no efforts were made to challenge them on their style of leadership, the end result, Hitler, Castro, Mugabe and others. Congratulations Mr Sharpe for your bold and brave initiative I tip my hat to you.
