Be patient people, change is coming

Friday, January 14, 2011

We have entered the dawn of 2011 with our Partnership Government at the helm. Over the last seven months, we would have noted a people approach being adopted by the PM and her MPs. They have accomplished in less than seven months what the previous administration could not do in seven years—understand the needs of not only the affluent in society but also the middle and lower income families.

Change is something the average Trini fights with everything they have, and when it happens they expect it to be instantaneous. In May 2010 we voted for change, but we need patience to apply this change uniformly throughout our land. We have pockets of our population showing signs of disturbance because they expect all positive changes to apply to them first.

I have faith that over the next 12 months, under true leadership, our people will begin to see the promised changes. They just need to have patience. Congratulations on a seven-month job well done, and I look forward with anticipation to a brighter future with the People’s Partnership.
